Los números en inglés: ordinales y cardinales

Para quienes se inician en el idioma inglés, los números son un capítulo aparte para aprender. Se requiere practicar su pronunciación y su escritura.

Veamos algunos ejemplos que te ayudarán a conocer los números en inglés.

Los números cardinales

1 one , 2 two, 3 three, 4  four, 5 five,6 six 7 seven, 8 eight, 9 nine, 10 ten,11 eleven, 12 twelve.

Los números en inglés: Del 1 al 10

Terminaciones diferentes desde el 13 al 19

La terminación en los siguientes números es con teen:

thirteen (13).
fourteen (14).
fifteen (15).
sixteen (16).
seventeen (17).
eighteen (18).
nineteen (19).

Terminaciones diferentes desde el 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 y 90

La terminación en estos números en con ty:

twenty (20).
thirty (30).
forty (40).
fifty (50).
sixty (60).
seventy (70).
eighty (80).
ninety (90).

Casos más difíciles

Para formar decenas deberás agregar un guión después de las decenas y el número:

twenty-one (21).
thirty-two (32).
forty-three (43).
fifty-four (54).
sixty-five (65).

Para formar centenas la técnica es distinta:

a/one hundred (100).
two hundred (200).
three hundred (300).

Los números ordinales

Se los utiliza para referirse a fechas. La abreviatura de los números ordinales se forma con el número en cifra seguido por las últimas dos letras de la palabra completa:

1st (first).
2nd (second).
3rd (third).
10 th (tenth).
11 th (eleventh).
12 th (twelth).
13 th (thirteenth).
15th (fifteenth).
20th (twentieth).
21 st  (twenty-first).
70 th  (seventieth).
80 th (eightieth).
90 th  (ninetieth).
100 th (hundredth).
101 st  (hundred and first).
